Data Recovery at Fateka

Fateka Computer Store provides professional data recovery for families and businesses in Herndon, Virginia and the surrounding Route 7 corridor. We recover files from failing hard drives, solid-state drives, external USB drives, flash drives, and memory cards. Every recovery starts with a free diagnostic where we assess the drive, determine what can be recovered, and give you a firm quote. If we cannot recover your data, you do not pay. For drives with severe physical damage requiring clean-room work, we provide honest guidance and can refer you to a specialized lab partner.

What We Recover

We have seen it all. Bring us what you have.

Internal Hard Drives (HDD)

Clicking, grinding, not detected, slow, corrupted. Desktop and laptop drives from any brand. The most common recovery we perform.

Solid-State Drives (SSD)

SSDs fail without warning. Not detected, read-only mode, sudden data loss. We recover data from SATA and NVMe drives.

External USB Drives

Dropped, bumped, not recognized. Western Digital, Seagate, Toshiba, and other portable drives. We recover from enclosure and bare drive failures.

USB Flash Drives and Memory Cards

Corrupted thumb drives, unreadable SD cards, camera cards that stopped working. We recover photos, documents, and other files from portable media.

Common Scenarios

We recover data from these situations every week

In-Store Recovery

Software-Based Recovery

Deleted files, formatted drives, file system corruption, drives that are failing but still partially readable. We handle this in-store with professional recovery tools. Most cases completed in 1-3 business days.

$99 - $695

If recovery is not possible, you pay nothing. If we recover your data but you choose not to proceed, a $50 diagnostic fee applies.

In-Store Recovery

Old Computer Data Transfer

Got a new computer and need files from the old one? We pull data from old drives, even from computers that no longer turn on, and transfer everything to your new machine.

Specialty Lab Referral

Physical Damage Recovery

Clicking drives, dead circuit boards, water or fire damage, drives that will not spin up. These require clean-room equipment we do not have in-store. We diagnose the problem for free, then coordinate with a specialty lab on your behalf. You get a quote before any work begins.

Varies by lab

We handle the shipping and communication so you do not have to. No fee if the lab cannot recover your data. If the lab can recover but you decline and want the drive returned, a $50 return fee applies.

How It Works

Three steps to getting your files back

1

Bring in your drive

Walk in with your drive, laptop, or storage device. We run a free diagnostic and assess what can be recovered.

2

We quote and recover

You get a firm price before we start. We recover your files and save them to a new drive or external storage.

3

Pick up your data

We verify everything is recovered and help you set up a backup solution so this does not happen again.

Questions

Frequently Asked

How much does data recovery cost? +

In-store software-based recovery ranges from $99 to $695 depending on the complexity and drive size. This covers deleted files, formatted drives, corruption, and drives that are failing but still partially readable. For physically damaged drives (clicking, dead boards, water damage), we coordinate with a specialty clean-room lab on your behalf. We always provide a free diagnostic and firm quote before any work begins. If we cannot recover your data, you do not pay. If recovery is possible but you decide not to proceed, a $50 diagnostic fee applies.

Can you recover data from a clicking or dead drive? +

In many cases, yes. We evaluate the drive and give you an honest assessment. For severe physical damage requiring clean-room work, we may refer you to a specialized lab. We always tell you upfront what we can and cannot do.

What should I do right now if my drive just failed? +

Stop using the drive immediately. Do not restart the computer, do not run disk repair tools, do not try to reinstall Windows. The more the drive is used after failure, the lower the recovery chances. Power it off and bring it to us as soon as possible.

How long does recovery take? +

Software-based recovery typically takes 1 to 3 business days depending on the drive size. More complex recoveries may take longer. We provide an estimated timeline during the diagnostic.

How is Fateka different from DriveSavers or Ontrack? +

National data recovery companies charge $500 to $3,000+ because they specialize in severe physical damage requiring clean-room environments. For the majority of data recovery situations involving software corruption, accidental deletion, or drives that are failing but still partially functional, we provide the same results at a fraction of the cost with local, in-person service.

Can you help prevent future data loss? +

Yes. After recovery, we can set up a backup solution so you are protected going forward. We recommend and configure local and cloud backup options tailored to your needs. We also offer FatechWatch managed PC security, which includes ongoing PC health monitoring that catches failing drives before data loss occurs.

Never Lose Data Again

FatechWatch monitors your PC's drive health 24/7. When a drive starts showing signs of failure, we alert you and help you back up before it is too late. Starting at $49.99/month.
